EA is scum

I try not to write about the hate that EA gets from time to time but good god. When I read that EA was buying pandemic and bioware I knew then that this is going to be really really bad. EA shut down pandemic and they said that the reason for shutting them down was location location location. A studio that was doing fine on its own sells to EA and two years 300 of the team is let go. If I worked there I would pimp slap the heads of pandemic? It’s not even a money issue because when they shut down pandemic then they bought playfish for 300 mill. On top of that they do this right before xmas some people would call them evil I wouldn’t stop there I would call them wicked or scum

psp why the pain

There is a rumor flying around about a psp go add on that will let you play umd games again. I don’t understand why people care about this… if you have umds then you should buy a psp slim; are new to the psp then you won’t care because you can get all the games online. I can see why a lot of people don’t like the psp go, it cost way more than the older psp, it doesn’t have an umd slot, and its screen is smaller. 250 bucks is a lot of money when you think that the older models are better.

natal the fight maker

I just read an article about natal replacing TV remotes. As cool as that my sound (never having to look for the remote again) I have a feeling a lot of people are going to drive each other crazy with this. With no remote people can just change the channel whenever they want. I can see lots of kids fighting over something like that. Or some wife turning away from the big game when her husband turns a way for a sec; natal will make fight Im telling you.

love hate

Motion controls will be on all three systems really soon. For a time I didn’t think that xbox and ps3 were going to do it but now they are following the wii. (It’s funny) before the wii came out everyone was asking how powerful it was and when they found out they said this thing would go the way of the dreamcast but then the sales jumped higher than anyone would have thought (even me). Then everyone started calling the wii “before its time” “when it comes to inventions only the wheel can best the wii” (gamers opinions change very quickly). Now people are down on the wii again “where is Mario” “where is Zelda” “no third parties”. Gamers have a love hate relationship with the wii every now and then they hug it and then smack it to the ground and tell it to make them a sandwich

death is coming

Now I love my gaming consoles more then I would like to admit (a lot more). When onlive was announced it has started to make me think of the future of gaming. Onlive is a service that will let you play games but the games hardware is on a server somewhere. Which means you (when I say you I’m revering to me) will never have to buy a console again. Upgrades to graphics, audio and speed will be at no cost to me. I think this will affect the pc market first then the consoles later. The first think most people think when they are going to get a new game on their pc is will this run on my pc or not. That way of thinking will be a think of the past. I want this really bad because there are so many games that come out that I will not get because I got this console and not that one. The death of the console is coming I just want to know if anyone will show up to the funeral

China is a funny little place (when I say little I mean having the largest population in the world) they are slowly demanding more and more from the world when it comes to oil, power and products. But what about games; Lately they have been picking on video games like they are the red headed step child. And some of the very largest companies are feeling the pain because of it. World of warcraft had to take down the game and change many things to make the internet standers the china has set up but it was unclear sometimes which branch is overseeing the internet and because of a internal power struggle world of warcraft had to be taken down again. Not that blizzard (makers of world of warcraft) is missing the money. When blizzard left the9 there revenue dropped over 90% (ouch).

public opinion

Rock bands no fail mode, Mario brothers wii auto play, in fable II you can’t die. Some gamers hate that games are getting easy. Some feel that the club of gaming is being invaded by people that don’t have the skills or the wisdom to do what they do. I think that this is a great thing for the industry as a group… every time we get someone new to play rockband I feel that just on less person that will bash games saying they make kids fat and dumb. Every time we get someone to play wii sports that is just one less person to say games are not an art. Every time we get someone to play little big planet that is just one more person to stand up to politicians that hate on games; because if you change public opinion then everything changes.

Is it just me or is everyone in a banning mood lately. Microsoft banned half a mill or so; the aion mmo banned a bunch of people the other day and I just banned one guy from my house. Don’t get me wrong I know why people are doing it people need to be taught a lesson about cheating and stealing. If only they could find a way to do it on the iphone I read that some Iphone games have a 60% pirated rate. I can’t imagine what I would do if someone took 70% of my check! (That’s not true I would cry)

the power

The ps3 is being used to cure cancer catch petafiles and the air force is using them to make high power radars and with a firmware update it will cook and clean and might take over the world. I know that the ps3 is powerful but good god it must be way more than I thought. I better keep an eye on my I think this is how sci-fi movies start (humans letting the computers getting smarter and smarter) next thing you know we are plugged into the matrix.

starting out

Starting out is one of the hardest things I have ever done. It is so easy for people to give up hope and try something new (hell I have done that so many times). This will be different I can feel it (that feeling could be hunger I’m not sure). The point of this blog is to make fun of the video game industry… the plan is to write everyday and video blog every week and make a animated short every few weeks (not sure how long that will take).
